This case is about Mary O’Malley a worker in her fifties. She caught the foot in a piece of torn stair carpet and fell. Was initially diagnosed with a broken finger but she had develop a neurological conditions and lost most of the use of the left arm. She was forced to retire because of her condition.
She had worked over years in residential care home, had made lot of euros with this job.
The torn stair carpet had been known over months for its repair. The staff for preventing any incident taped that carpet, but contractors remove the covering during renovations.
One day in 2005, Mary was up and down the stair and in one of those she fell put out her left hand to brace her fall. When getting up noticed her finger was white as snow and bent upwards towards her. After this, she remembers the breakfast for the residents, so we bandage her finger and continued working. Two hours then she drive to hospital in company of her husband.
Given two injections and then starts feeling the pain, the doctor made for her finger a splint.
Two week later, she starts having pain in her shoulder and finger and start losing strength in her arm. Got to the hospital again and they discovered she dislocated her shoulder and diagnosed with reflex synthetic dystrophy. She couldn´t work, from then to now has passed a year.
Her arm is getting worst, have no strength in it. Her hand is always swollen, looks red and purple and feels cold all the time. She couldn´t do simple things she was able to do. Can´t knit, do shopping properly, not even wear her wedding rings.
This accident had change her life emotional, physical and financially. Management knew the problem with the carpet and they argued that was very expensive to replace it, but they don´t even call to see how Mary is feeling. By their negligence, she has lost part of her life.

Este caso es sobre Mary O’Malley un trabajador de unos cincuenta años. Ella cogió el pie en un pedazo de alfombra de la escalera rota y se cayó. Fue inicialmente diagnosticados con un dedo roto pero tenía desarrollar una condiciones neurológicas y perdido la mayor parte de la utilización del brazo izquierdo. Ella se vio obligada a retirarse debido a su condición.
